Moodubelle Parishioners Accord Heartfelt Farewell to Fr. Rickson Monteiro

The parishioners of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle, bid a warm and heartfelt farewell to Fr. Rickson Monteiro, Assistant Parish Priest, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 9:15 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Fr. Rickson, who served the parish for the past two years, has been appointed as the Assistant Parish Priest at Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur.

The farewell programme was presided over by Rev. Fr. George D’Souza, Parish Priest of St. Lawrence Church. Other dignitaries present on the dais included Dn. Shawn Andrade, Pritish D’Sa (Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council), Mrs. Jyothi Lavina D’Souza (Secretary), and Mrs. Monica D’Souza (Convener of the 20 Commissions).
In his introductory address, Pritish D’Sa briefly highlighted Fr. Rickson Monteiro’s dedicated service over the past two years and extended best wishes for his new assignment and future ministry.
In his message, Rev. Fr. George D’Souza appreciated Fr. Rickson’s contributions to the parish, particularly noting his efforts—along with tech-savvy parishioners—in digitizing parish records, a significant step toward modernization.
Fr. Rickson Monteiro was felicitated by Rev. Fr. George D’Souza and members of the Finance Committee with a shawl, bouquets, and a gift. Members of the Stree Sanghattan also expressed their gratitude and bid him farewell with a bouquet.
In his farewell speech, Fr. Rickson Monteiro shared that he initially felt hesitant upon arriving in Moodubelle after his ordination, but soon grew comfortable and connected with the parish community. He expressed deep gratitude to Rev. Fr. George D’Souza for his constant guidance and for providing opportunities to learn and grow in his pastoral responsibilities. He fondly mentioned that the Parish Priest cared for him like an elder brother, making his tenure meaningful and fulfilling. He requested the faithful to keep him in their prayers.
The programme was compered by Mrs. Jyothi Lavina D’Souza, who also proposed the vote of thanks.

About Fr. Rickson Monteiro

Fr. Rickson Monteiro hails from a humble family and is the second son of Denis and Florine Monteiro. His brother Roshan Monteiro and sister-in-law Pratibha D’Souza are employed in Kuwait.
He completed his schooling up to PUC at St. Sebastian Educational Institutions, Permannur. He pursued his undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) at St. Aloysius College, Mangalore, and his postgraduate degree in Master of Social Work (MSW) at the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore.
After joining the seminary, he studied Philosophy and Theology at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Mangalore. His regency was at the Minor Seminary in Moodubelle, and he served his diaconate ministry at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Perampalli, before being appointed as Assistant Parish Priest at St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle.
