In the year 1960, Fr Valerian D’Souza started the Marian Sodality (also known as ‘Sodality of
Girls’) in the parish. Followed by the assistance by the sisters of the Loreto Convent.
Many of the girls and ladies have reaped benefits from this association. Many of the girls have
been inspired to live a life with values closely associated with Mother Mary. They have continued living
a life of chastity and simplicity. There have been many vocations among the girls because of the
presence of this sodality in the parish.
In the current year 2026, there are 45 members in the sodality. Ms Jyoti, as the President and Ms
Rina as the Secretary are giving their best to the sodality and to the betterment of the members in the
sodality.
The members are seen through the year, during various activities of the church in small or large
numbers. The presence of the members of Marian Sodality is felt especially during the nine days novena
of the Nativity of Mary. They fully participate in the liturgy and beautify the celebration of novena by
getting flowers to offer to Mary. Their presence is seen during the masses on school days and in
holidays. The regular meetings of the sodality are held once in a month, to which the members present
involve themselves in all the activities in the meeting.
So, in a little way, they are been able to contribute a lot to the spiritual development of the
church.
