INDIAN CATHOLIC YOUTH MOVEMENT (ICYM):

Started in 1947, as Catholic Youth Movement (CYM) in the parish under the
guidance of Rev. Fr V. G. F. Rego has come a long way. Since 1973, the presence of
CYM becomes more vibrantly seen and recorded in the church documents.
With the theme ‘To lead, to serve, to shine’, the ICYM unit (CYM renamed as
ICYM in 2000) of the parish has been organizing programmes with the welfare of the
society at large, in mind. Programmes like Psychometric Assessment and Career
Counselling, ‘What’s Tax and Finance?’ and many such programmes which are helping
them to build a career for themselves are organized. Blood Donation Camps are also
organized within the year in order that the youth learn to show their solidarity with the
society.
Sports related events like Volleyball and Throwball matches, Konkani Singing
Competition, Cooking without Fire, Fancy Dress, Drawing competition, Cricket, Sports
Day, Quiz were organized and thus this became an opportunity for many parishners with
various talents and interests to bring out the best in them.
The youth have gained a stage to get actively involved in the parish with their
bubbling energy. The programmes held by the youth overall are very much oriented
towards their holistic development in the society. Currently ICYM is with 100 members
and is working vibrantly and enthusiastically for the betterment of the church.
